The Saint Bridget School library serves both the elementary and middle school students. The dual mission of the Library program are to promote life-long reading for educational and recreational purposes as well as ensuring that students are effective and ethical users of information. This mission is accomplished by: providing intellectual and physical access to quality materials in all formats (books, periodicals, A/V materials, and digital resources) providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate common core literacy standards throughout the curriculum Our library currently houses: over 11,000 individual volumes over 500 DVDs/VHS tapes audio books 11 4G laptop computers 3 desktop computers The Library Instruction includes: Grade K1-2nd weekly story time and borrowing privileges (except K1) Grades 3rd-5th learn about the vocabulary of books and libraries reference sources the organization of the library research techniques borrowing privileges Grades 6th – 8th research techniques searching and evaluating sources (including websites and print) strategies for proper citation of resources Other Programs: Book It! reading incentive program.
