The Saint Bridget School library serves both the elementary and middle school students.  The dual mission of the Library program are to promote life-long reading for educational and recreational purposes as well as ensuring that students are effective and ethical users of information.

This mission is accomplished by:

  • providing intellectual and physical access to quality materials in all formats (books, periodicals, A/V materials, and digital resources)
  • providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas
  • collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate common core literacy standards throughout the curriculum

Our library currently houses:

  • over 11,000 individual volumes
  • over 500 DVDs/VHS tapes
  • audio books
  • 11 4G laptop computers
  • 3 desktop computers

The Library Instruction includes:

  • Grade K1-2nd
    • weekly story time and
    • borrowing privileges (except K1)
  • Grades 3rd-5th
    •  learn about the vocabulary of books and libraries
    • reference sources
    • the organization of the library
    • research techniques
    • borrowing privileges
  • Grades 6th – 8th
    • research techniques
    • searching and evaluating sources (including websites and print)
    • strategies for proper citation of resources
